We head back to the familiar confines of the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada this Saturday for UFC Vegas 92: Barboza vs. Murphy. The main event features a five-round bout between top-15 ranked featherweights Edson Barboza and Lerone Murphy, and I will give my pick for that matchup as well as two undercard bouts in the latest edition of the Bookies.com UFC picks.

UFC Vegas 92 Main Event Best Bet: Lerone Murphy (-162) vs. Edson Barboza (+136)

The main event of UFC Vegas 92 is a five-round featherweight bout between Lerone Murphy and Edson Barboza. Murphy is a -162 betting apps  favorite, and I like him to get the biggest win of his career.

Murphy is 32 and he is 5-1-1 in the UFC. The Brazilian fought to a draw in his UFC debut but he hasn’t lost since then with five straight wins, including two of those wins coming by knockout. He is a terrific striker with big knockout power and he also has some grappling skills to back that up. He still hasn’t lost yet and there is no guarantee that he will lose a fight anytime soon. He appears to be a very solid fighter and there is a lot to like about this fighter heading into this matchup. It is a big step up against Barboza, no doubt about it, but it is also a fight he can win.

Barboza is 38 and he is 18-11 in the UFC. The Brazilian is one of the most exciting strikers the featherweight division has ever seen, and he has pulled off so many highlight-reel finishes over the years that is beyond impressive. Even at his age, he is still pulling off crazy upsets, having won his last two fights as an underdog. That being said, while offensively he is super dangerous, he has many defensive issues in his career, which is a big problem. His chin isn’t great and that could be a problem here against Murphy in what should be a very exciting fight.

This is Murphy’s toughest test to date, but I like him to stay undefeated here with a huge win. As talented of a striker as Barboza is, his chin has never been the greatest, and I think Murphy can test it. Take Murphy to win as a -162 favorite, and take him to win by knockout for a prop bet.

He was looking like a serious contender but lost twice in a row when he stepped up and fought ranked competition. Still, I think he is a promising fighter who can bounce back in his career. Yanez has a winnable fight here to get back into the win column, and I like him to get back in the winner’s circle.

Salvador is 27 and he is 0-2 in the UFC. The Brazilian was signed after a win on Dana White’s Contender Series but he has looked terrible in the Octagon with two straight losses. He has been outstruck and outwrestled in the UFC so far and there doesn’t seem to be a high ceiling for him in the UFC. On paper, it looks like the UFC is using him as a fight for Yanez to get back on track. We will see how the fight plays out, but this appears to be a very difficult matchup for him.

Yanez is the superior striker, and he should be able to knock Salvador out. Take Yanez as a -360 favorite, and take him to win this fight by knockout for a prop bet.

In women’s strawweight action, Angela Hill takes on Luana Pinheiro. Hill is a -162 favorite, and I like her to edge out a decision in this fight.

Hill is 39 and she is 11-13 in the UFC. The American has been in the UFC for the better part of the last decade and she has fought and beaten many of the best women at 115 lbs. She is an excellent striker and she has pulled off many upsets in her career. She has a ton of experience, she has a high fight IQ, and her volume striking is a huge positive. We will see how she does in this matchup, but on paper, this appears to be a winnable fight where she can get a decision.

Pinheiro is 31 and she is 3-1 in the UFC. The Brazilian shined on Dana White’s Contender Series and got signed to the UFC, winning her first three fights in the promotion. However, she suffered a vicious knockout loss in her last fight with Amanda Ribas and needs to bounce back here. She is a solid striker and she has some grappling skills, as well. However, the cardio is a major issue, as is her striking defense, and it doesn’t get any easy taking on Hill in this fight.

Even though she is the older fighter in this matchup, Hill should be able to outpoint Pinheiro throughout three rounds and win a decision on the judges’ scorecards. Take Hill to win as a -162 favorite, and take her to win by decision for a prop.
