Tip 1 - 3:00 Southwell - Bbold

Those at the top of the market have some questions to answer in this one. Jeteye showed precious little under rules prior to being backed off the boards and ending up as a beaten favourite last time. Coniston Clouds isn’t proven over this far and is worth taking on too. Bbold will have no issues with the trip and has two wins to his name from three visits to Southwell. At the prices, he’s the value play.

Tip 2 - 3:15 Beverley - Emeralds Pride

Emeralds Pride comes into this race seeking a four-timer and there is good reason she could come away with it. She has always done just enough in her previous three wins which suggests she is keeping a bit back for herself. Only being raised a total of 8lb for those three wins means the handicapper might not have a hold of her yet. The break shouldn't be an issue either as Emeralds Pride has always put in a big run on seasonal debut.

Tip 3 - 3:45 Beverley - Sound Reason

Conditions look good for a strong run from Sound Reason. He has two previous course and distance wins at this track from six races. The only two times he has encountered good to firm ground at Beverley, he has been the victor, and he races from four pounds lower than the last win here in July last year. Had a tune up run at Pontefract last month and should come on nicely for his second run of the year.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time. 

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).

The best place is always on the racecourse but that’s not very practical so when it’s not on terrestrial TV with the likes of Sky Sports Racing and ITV (or ITV 4) then the best way to get instant access to live pictures is with a live streaming bookmaker – try these three below for the best of the bunch.
