Chelsea are in the Capital Cup semi-finals with a tie against Liverpool. How many trophies, if any, can Mourinho bring to the trophy cabinet this season?
With just one defeat to date in all competitions, Chelsea’s season has started with a bang to say the least. The west London side are still fighting on four fronts and look a decent bet to manage at least one major trophy this season. Will one be enough though for Jose Mourinho? He will be aiming high, and although he will likely be the last to admit it, he will be hopeful that his side can manage something never before achieved by an English club, namely winning the Premier League ( 2/5 ), FA Cup ( 5/1 ), Capital One Cup ( 5/6 ) and Champions League ( 8/1 ).
There is obviously much still to be done and Chelsea have a tough assignment in the Champions League, facing French champions PSG in their first knockout match. Nevertheless they are through to the Capital One Cup semi-final against Liverpool and Mourinho will be confident that his side can reach the finals.
Despite some slip-ups of late, Chelsea still hold a three point lead at the top of the Premier League and remain firm odds-on favourites to clinch the title at the end of the season. The Blues host Watford in the third round of the FA Cup next month, the Hornets unlikely to pose the home side too many problems at Stamford Bridge, BetVictor offering a best price of 11/2 for Chelsea to go all the way in that competition.
Indeed, Chelsea are now as low as 66/1 to clinch all four major trophies this season, a huge achievement and one which Mourinho’s side are fully capable of achieving. Should you believe that such a feat is possible, you can get best odds of 110/1 at Ladbrokes.
A more likely scenario perhaps is for a Premier League and Capital One Cup double, up for grabs at a more modest 7/4. Odds of 8/1 are available at Ladbrokes for Chelsea to achieve the Premier League and FA Cup double and 16/1 also up for grabs with the same bookie for an FA Cup, Capital One Cup and Premier League treble.
