Stormzy now 9/2 to land Christmas Number One although Louisa Johnson the 4/6 favourite
Just a few days left until we discover who lands Christmas number one, with Louisa Johnson’s X Factor victory meaning that the young singer is now in the box seat to be top of the charts on Christmas Day.
Johnson was a comfortable winner of the ITV reality show, although we’ve seen in the past that there’s often a dark horse entry who usurps the manufactured pop created by Simon Cowell and his cronies.
Such as the time when Rage against the Machine celebrated an unlikely success, with Stormzy looking as though he could be the fly in the ointment this time around.
Bet365 have shortened the singer to 9/2 on their Christmas number one market after a wave of bets on the artist following his performance before the Anthony Joshua fight on Saturday.
Justin Bieber is a 4/1 chance and clearly has a massive fanbase at his disposal, while the NHS Choir could also go close at 7/1, with Adele now out to 16/1 and likely to scoop Christmas number one album instead.
bet365’s Steve Freeth told bookies.com: “Louisa Johnson won X Factor at a canter on Sunday and although she’s favourite to make it eight Christmas number one’s in eleven years for Simon Cowell, bet365 are seeing plenty of support for Stormzy after his performance before Anthony Joshua’s bout on Saturday night.
“Louisa landed the X Factor spoils on the bridle, but she seems to have a fight on her hands for a Christmas number one with Stormzy all the rage against the Cowell machine.”
