2016 Six Nations fixtures – Rugby union returns to TV this spring

From February 6th to March 19th 2016, the Six Nations returns, with broadcast rights split between the BBC and ITV. View all dates and fixtures.

If you’ve enjoyed the Rugby World Cup, then there’s just 98 days to wait from the end of that tournament until the Six Nations returns to our screens.

A deal reached in July means the BBC and ITV will share broadcast rights for the next six years, starting with the 2016 Six Nations.

Punters can see England, Ireland and Italy home games from this annual rugby union tournament on ITV, while matches hosted by France, Scotland and Wales will remain on the BBC.

It’s England, who flopped as Rugby World Cup hosts, that the bookies make favourites to respond to their autumn disappointment, with William Hill among those quoting a best-price of 2/1.

Will Stuart Lancaster remain in charge for their next Test away at Murrayfield? Scotland, 18/1 outright outsiders with Betfred, should fancy their chances of building on a Rugby World Cup campaign that exceeded expectation and taking the Calcutta Cup back north of the border.

Dual Six Nations champions Ireland have top odds of 11/4 with Betway to make it three successes on the spin, and start their new era without influential captain Paul O’Connell. They retain coach Joe Schmidt, though.

Warren Gatland’s Wales will also fancy their chances, having run Ireland close in 2015, so their top price of 7/2 with bet365 is worth a look.

France must rebuild after being smashed by New Zealand in the Rugby World Cup quarter-finals, while there’s no sign of Italy’s status as Six Nations whipping boys changing.
