Day 9 of the 2018 World Cup will see Brazil back in action, while Serbia v Switzerland could decide who qualifies from Group E
The 2018 World Cup group stage continues apace on Friday, with Iceland hoping to move a step closer to the last sixteen by beating Nigeria.
The European side enjoyed a 1-1 draw against Argentina and will be playing a Super Eagles side who looked off the pace against Croatia, with more expected of the African side.
Nigeria 16:00 Iceland
Brazil 13:00 Costa Rica
Serbia 19:00 Switzerland
If Iceland win, they’ll be on four points and might only need a point against the Croats in their final game to go through, potentially at the expense of Argentina.
Meanwhile, Brazil line up against Costa Rica and this could be a mismatch if the Samba Stars are able to replicate their level of performance which saw them outplay Switzerland despite a 1-1 draw.
Tite’s men might be missing Neymar for this clash but they have lots of other attacking options and it might be that we see Philippe Coutinho link up with his former club team-mate Roberto Firmino to good effect.
If Brazil are to win Group E, it’s less clear-cut as to which side will finish second and Serbia will fancy their chances after beating Costa Rica. The Eagles will hope to get the better of a tough Swiss side and the winner of this match looks nailed on to make the knockout stage of the World Cup.
