Andy Carroll trimmed from 33/1 to make England’s Euro 2016 squad after hat-trick against Arsenal
Weekend hat-trick hero Andy Carroll is now 10/1 from 33/1 with bet365 to make the England Euro 2016 squad this summer with Marcus Rashford’s price going the other way after being hooked at half time against Spurs.
bet365’s Steve Freeth told bookies.com: “Carroll was available at 33/1 before the Arsenal game, 14/1 at half time after his quick fire brace and that was soon 10/1 when he completed his hat-trick in the 52nd minute with Rashford now out to 20/1.
“A fit and firing Carroll may give Hodgson a ‘Plan B’ option, but fitness concerns may be against him.”
Carroll admits that he still harbours hope of returning to the England fold after previously featuring as part of the Euro 2012 squad that reached the quarter final stage of the competition.
“I’ve said my opinion about a few of our players,” said Slaven Bilic. “Mark Noble, Aaron Cresswell, and Andy Carroll is definitely in the category that he has to make you think about him because there are not many players capable of doing what he is doing. But it’s Roy’s decision.
“His problem is not consistency in terms of little injuries. A lad who is six foot whatever and with so many kilos — he needs to be fit. Now he is fit we hope he is going to last like this for years.”
Carroll, who has an England European Championship goal to his name, is 3/1 to outscore Marcus Rashford on Wednesday night.
