Arsenal 15/8 to make it out of Group F despite victory over Bayern Munich

It was a night to remember for Arsenal fans as their team claimed a 2-0 victory over the champions of Germany, although qualification could still be an uphill struggle for the Gunners.

After all, Arsene Wenger’s team have previously lost matches against Dinamo Zagreb and Olympiacos, meaning they have just three points on the board going into the second half of the group stage.

Paddy Power take a dim view of Arsenal’s chances with their 15/8 quote about the Gunners making the last sixteen stage, with a trip to the Allianz likely to leave them with three points ahead of a home match against Zagreb and then a trip to Greece.

Betfair make Olympiacos 4/6 to qualify for the last sixteen instead, with the Greek side likely to make it nine points from four matches when they entertain Dinamo in their next game before a double header against Bayern and Arsenal.

Indeed, it appears that the Gunners will have to take maximum points from their final two group matches, with a trip to Olympiacos likely to determine whether they play Champions League or Europa League football in the New Year.

Wenger said after the Bayern victory: “You never know if you will win the game but you know that the team focus and dynamic was there. We were not at our level of focus for the first two games [against Dinamo Zagreb and Olympiakos] because we always focus on the Premier League but tonight, we needed what we show in the Premier League.

“This can strengthen our belief and the belief of the people around us. We need a result at Bayern in our next game but let’s focus on Everton in the league on Saturday.”
