Liverpool want Sanchez as part of Luis Suarez deal although Gunners odds-on to capture the Chilean
Arsenal are yet to plunge into the transfer market this summer although that looks set to change imminently, with Alexis Sanchez close to signing on the dotted line at the Emirates.
The Barcelona forward looks surplus to requirements at the Nou Camp given that the Catalan club are on the verge of signing Luis Suarez from Liverpool and it had been thought that the Merseyside club wanted the Chilean as a makeweight in the deal.
However, bookmaker Sky Bet now make Arsenal a 1/4 shot to capture Sanchez who will bolster an attacking line which seemed short of numbers last term despite Olivier Giroud chipping with a fair share of goals.
Indeed, some news sources have indicated that Arsenal’s £32 million bid has been accepted by Barcelona and that little remains for the signing to go through other than the player to agree terms and pass a medical.
The 25-year-old shone at the World Cup for Chile, while he has managed 39 goals in 88 appearances for Barcelona since arriving from Udinese in 2011.
It appears that further talks are set to take place between Arsenal and Sanchez’s agent this week, although a formal announcement will be delayed until a deal is agreed for Luis Suarez to leave Liverpool and join Barcelona.
Arsenal passed up the opportunity to sign Cesc Fabregas earlier in the summer, despite having first refusal to capture the Spaniard after Barcelona confirmed that the midfielder was surplus to requirements at the club.
