Gomis has scored in each of Swansea’s first four matches this season
Bafetimbi Gomis was very much an understudy to Wilfried Bony at the Liberty Stadium, although the latter’s big money move to Manchester City paved the way for the Frenchman to play first fiddle for Swansea City.
Gomis has taken his opportunity with both hands this season, scoring against Chelsea, Sunderland, Newcastle and Manchester United to help the Swans enjoy a bright start to the season and it’s the towering forward who tops the scoring charts.
Few considered the Frenchman as a potential top scorer this season although Gomis is now a best price 20/1 with BetVictor to win the accolade and it’s been a slow start for more fancied players such as Sergio Aguero and Diego Costa.
Both of these forwards have notched just the one goal thus far, with Aguero continuing to be a warm order at 9/4 as his Manchester City side make a fast start to the season, although Costa can be backed at 12/1.
Christian Benteke also has just the one goal to show for his efforts thus far and the Belgian is a 14/1 poke, although the striker’s ratio of goals per game at Aston Villa suggest he should get close to the 20 mark.
Gomis has certainly not had easy games to score his goals and is clearly the first-choice penalty taker for the Welsh club, with a quarter of the odds available each-way for the first four places.
Riyad Mahrez and Callum Wilson are the other players on four goals, with the Bournemouth striker bagging a hat-trick against West Ham before scoring a spectacular goal against Leicester City.
Coral offer 33/1 about the Cherries forward becoming the first top scorer from a non-top-four club since Kevin Phillips, although bet365 rate his chances a good deal higher and go 16/1.
Harry Kane might have been the surprise package of last season but the Tottenham marksman has so far failed to find the onion bag and is out to 33/1, while the well-backed Wayne Rooney is also 33/1 after a goalless start in the Premier League.
All odds were correct at time of posting.
