Barcelona and Bayern avoid each other in Champions League quarter-final draw

It was a draw that will have pleased Bayern Munich more than Barcelona, with the Bavarian side facing Benfica at the last eight stage, while Barca come up against fellow La Liga side Atletico Madrid.

The bookies haven’t been too hasty in lengthening Luis Enrique’s side on the outright market despite this tricky tie, with Barcelona a best price 13/8 with betway and they are as short as 11/8 to go all the way.

Barca have faced Atletico Madrid twice in the league this term, with Atleti out to 22/1 with Sky Bet although Diego Simeone has previously helped his team eliminate Barcelona from this competition before.

Bayern Munich will have been delighted to avoid the Spanish contingent as well as Paris Saint-Germain, while Pep Guardiola will also have hoped to swerve a Manchester City team whom he takes charge of in the summer.

Therefore, a tie against Benfica has worked out well, with Bayern now a best price 11/4 to claim a Champions League outright win and BetVictor are as short as 2/1 about Guardiola’s men.

The two favourites to win the Champions League remain on a collision course to face each other at the San Siro in May, with Winner offering 7/2 that they are the two finalists.

However, Real Madrid are a 5/1 chance with bet365 and Wolfsburg look like the easiest opponents left in the competition, even if the German side did come through a last sixteen clash against Gent.

Paris Saint-Germain have come up against English opposition for the second round running, although the French champions are expected to get the better of a Manchester City team who are walking wounded at the moment.
