Bet365 declare the Premier League title race over after customers paid out early on Manchester City bets
Manchester City are twelve points clear at the top of the Premier League after Saturday’s 3-1 win over Newcastle United, with the Citizens looking unstoppable when it comes to being crowned English champions.
That is certainly the view of bet365 who have declared the title race as over on Monday morning by paying out any customer who previously backed Manchester City to win the 2017/18 title.
Bookmaker Paddy Power have already paid out antepost bets on City claiming the title and bet365 decided that enough was enough, with the league leaders having won 21 of their 24 games to date this season.
bet365’s Steve Freeth told bookies.com: “We’ve seen enough of Manchester City to declare them as Premier League Champions with 14 games to play.
“bet365 backers of the quad, and there were almost 100 of them at 500/1 in pre season, can tick the Premier League off their list, and the sight of them handily placed in the other three is a little concerning to say the least” added Freeth.
The Citizens now have a EFL/FA Cup double header over the next week against Bristol City and Cardiff City, plus a seemingly straightforward two legged Champions League tie versus Basel with the price on an unprecedented quadruple being quoted at 20/1 – having opened at 500/1.
The firm have also updated a number of other Manchester City top flight specials with Pep’s team quoted at 4/6 to break the 99/00 Man Utd record winning margin of 18 points, 4/11 to surpass the 2004/5 Chelsea tally of 95 points and 2/5 to break their 103 goals return of the 2009/10 season.
