Bet365 give £5 million back to customers after the 0-0 draw between France and Portugal triggers Bore Draw cashback

The promotion is called Bore Draw money back and the Euro 2016 final certainly befitted that description, with France and Portugal playing out a drab encounter before the latter claimed the spoils in extra-time.

It wasn’t the first goalless draw of the tournament but it was certainly the biggest in terms of betting turnover and it forced bet365 to pay back over £5 million in losing bets.

It was the sixth time during Euro 2016 that bet365 have been forced to cough up a mass refund and there were also outright bets on Poland and Italy paid back as a result of the Penalty Payback promotion.

Switzerland backers also got their money back after losing to the Poles, with bet365 just thankful that France weren’t beaten on penalties in the end. That would have seen millions more paid back.

bet365’s Steve Freeth told “We’ve given back around £5m on the final, but at least it didn’t go to penalties – the ‘Penalty Payback’ offer on top of ‘Bore Draw’ would have been horrendous!

“Portugal winning was a good result in the outright book in a tournament that ended up being bookmaker-friendly.”
