Harry Maguire odds-on with the bookmakers to leave Leicester City and sign for Manchester United
Jose Mourinho is cutting a disgruntled figure during Manchester United’s pre-season preparations, although a marquee signing might cheer him up and it appears as though the Red Devils could land Harry Maguire before the transfer window closes.
On Thursday, news emerged that United have approached the Midlands club with a view to signing Maguire for a figure in the region of £60 million, with the central defender having impressed for England at the 2018 World Cup.
Bookmaker betway think that the deal is likely to happen, with odds of 4/7 about the 25-year-old following Riyad Mahrez out of the exit door and signing for the Red Devils, something that would see the central defender playing Champions League football next term.
Mourinho is clearly unimpressed by the central defenders currently at the club, with Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof among those players who could be moved on in the summer, although Eric Bailly looks set to have a longer future at the club.
Betway go 6/5 that Maguire stays put at Leicester and he certainly doesn’t seem like the sort of player to wrangle a move and ruffle any feathers, although his defensive ability plus a willingness to carry the ball out from deep means he’s a prized commodity.
Leicester have allegedly told United that Maguire is not for sale this summer, although that might not stop Mourinho from getting his man, with the August transfer window closing on 9 August this time around rather than the end of the month as it has on previous years.
