Pacquiao and Mayweather showdown finally arrives

The eagerly-anticipated welterweight showdown between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather is finally upon us

The talking is done, preparations are finished and both 10-time world champions are ready to collide in a welterweight showdown for the ages. In case you haven’t heard, Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao are finally set to come together in the ring in what is expected to be the highest grossing boxing encounter in history.

Many will say it has come five years too late, but both these prolific punchers still possess the qualities capable of producing a sporting event like no other, despite closing in on 40 years of age. Undefeated American fighter Mayweather is a best priced odds-on 5/6 with Coral to secure another victory by points decision, having become the undisputed king of going the distance in his clinical career.

Although, ferocious Filipino fighter ‘Pacman’ is sure to test his American counterpart to the limit, and is available at 11/2 with Sky Bet to inflict a maiden KO or TKO defeat on Mayweather. ‘Money’ Mayweather has prided himself on his unbreachable defensive qualities throughout such a prestigious career, having rallied to an incredible 47 consecutive professional triumphs.

Although, despite such a rampant record, the five-division world champion has only managed 26 knock-out victories, and only one in the last decade against Victor Ortiz, compared to Pacquiao’s impressive 38 career stoppages.

Mayweather is a 7/1 chance with Paddy Power to secure a rare KO victory, while ‘the Filipino Slugger’ is available at 10/3 with Coral to topple his unbeaten counterpart on points after a full 12 round encounter. Pacquiao has emerged from three straight 12-round bouts against Brandon Rios, Timothy Bradley and Chris Algieri, having won on points on every occasion.

The Filipino’s recent recovery from being downed by menacing Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez in 2012 has been superb and a welterweight showdown with Mayweather in Sin City is undoubtedly set to be a sporting spectacle which will go down in history.

Betting tip: Pacquiao to win by KO or TKO @ 11/2 with Sky Bet
