Wales striker Vokes saved Clarets at Leeds last time out and struck late when previously paired with Blues, so top 11/2 odds with Betfred are well worth it.
Sam Vokes staked a major claim for a starting spot upon Burnley’s return to the Championship with his header, giving Sean Dyche’s side a point from their trip to Elland Road on the opening day of the season.
The Wales international target man has been largely used off the bench since returning to action following a serious knee injury that robbed him of much of the Clarets’ Premier League campaign. Dyche clearly likes this tactics, so best odds of 11/2 with Betfred say Vokes can repeat the feat of scoring last with next opponents Birmingham City.
When previously paired with the West Midlands outfit, Vokes struck late in what ended a 3-3 draw, adding further credence to this. Competition for places in the Burnley attack looks stronger since losing leading marksman Danny Ings, and Dyche looks highly likely to stick with using his Welsh wonder as an impact sub.
Belgium international Jelle Vossen is the headline act in Clarets colours, and he went close on his debut at Leeds United. A top-price of 21/10 says he will find the target anytime here.
Alternative attacking options are Lukas Jutkiewicz (best odds of 23/10 with TitanBet to net), a similar type to Vokes, and ex-Everton youngster Chris Long (9/4 anytime at Betfred), who showed promise at Championship level during a loan spell at Burnley’s promotion rivals Brentford last term.
What all of these forwards lack is a truly prolific season in the second tier, but Vokes played a huge part in the Clarets’ surprise promotion in 2013/14. Vossen, previously capped before a Golden Generation of Belgian footballers came to the fore, should be targeting a marked improvement on the nine league goals he netted at Middlesbrough.
Vokes is a fantastic choice, even as a safer anytime bet at top odds of 19/10 with BetVictor, but is simply sublime to round off the scoring at Turf Moor.
Bookies.com best bet: Sam Vokes scores last @ 11/2 with Betfred.
