Sportsbooks continue to line up partnerships in Arizona with sports betting on the horizon.

Caesars Entertainment announced a partnership with the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday for mobile sports betting and to build a brick-and-mortar sportsbook and bar on the plaza adjacent to the team's home, Chase Field, in downtown Phoenix.

The new sportsbook, sports bar and broadcast studio will take over the location formerly known as Game 7 Grill on the Plaza at Chase Field, according to a news release.

The deal gives Caesars mobile sports betting market access and sponsorship opportunities in sports betting and daily fantasy sports with the Diamondbacks. In addition, Caesars said it has also finalized a multi-year agreement with MLB to become an Authorized Gaming Operator for MLB betting.

“We went through a thorough process to identify the ideal partner that would bring experience and the strongest of reputations in legalized gaming,” Derrick Hall, Diamondbacks president and chief executive officer, said in the release. “Caesars is considered the cream of the crop and aligns with our philosophy when it comes to professionalism, brand presentation, and customer treatment and brings its best-in-class William Hill mobile sportsbook product and retail sports betting expertise. Equally important, we went through our strong due diligence to find the industry leader in the education and execution of responsible gaming.”

Arizona Sportsbook Partnerships

On April 14, DraftKings and the PGA Tour announced they would expand their commercial relationship to provide DraftKings market access for retail and mobile sports betting in Arizona. As part of the agreement, the PGA Tour and DraftKings announced plans to operate a premium retail sportsbook for golf and other betting at TPC Scottsdale, home of the Waste Management Phoenix Open.

On April 15, Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey (R) signed legislation and the newly amended Tribal-State Gaming Compacts, legalizing sports betting and daily fantasy sports contests. Shortly after the signing ceremony, the Phoenix Suns and FanDuel announced a multiyear market access partnership making the sports betting platform the Suns’ Official Sportsbook and Daily Fantasy Sports Partner.

As part of the deal, FanDuel will open a retail sportsbook inside the Phoenix Suns Arena, expected to be completed in time for the start of the 2021-22 NBA season.

More on the Caesars Deal

As part of the agreement announced Thursday, Caesars will be integrated into marketing efforts, including access to signage, and digital assets, the release said.

“We have long enjoyed successful gaming operations in Arizona and are delighted to expand into sports betting alongside the Arizona Diamondbacks,” Tom Reeg, chief executive officer of Caesars Entertainment, said in the release. “Together, we have the opportunity to create new ways for baseball fans to engage with the game both in-person near the ballpark and online anywhere in Arizona. Our ability to tie those into our Caesars Rewards network will create an unbeatable experience for any sports fan.”

The partnerships with the Arizona Diamondbacks and MLB are the most recent additions to Caesars' growing list of sports relationships, including a recently announced expanded partnership with the NFL.

William Hill, now a part of Caesars Entertainment, in 2020 opened the first sportsbook inside a U.S. professional sports complex — Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., home of the Capitals (NHL) and Wizards (NBA), 2020.

Reeg said on Tuesday that the operator will rebrand William Hill’s retail sportsbooks as Caesars and the sportsbook app will be called Caesars Sports and tie into the Caesars rewards database.

The Diamondbacks (15-15) went into Thursday fourth in the National League West Division.
