PSG striker looking forward to Champions League double header against Jose Mourinho’s team
It appears that Jose Mourinho isn’t the only one to indulge in reverse psychology ahead of big games, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic insisting that Chelsea are the hot favourites for a Champions League quarter final tie against his Paris Saint-Germain team.
Ibrahimovic worked under Mourinho at Internazionale before moving to Barcelona, with the Swede one of the best players in the world although the striker insists that Chelsea’s experience in Europe make them the team most likely to reach the semi-final stage.
He said: “I think Chelsea are the super favourites. We are beginners in everything we do while Chelsea have had a project for 10 years.
“Experience is an advantage for the one who has it. I think Chelsea has more experience in the Champions League. We’re in the position Chelsea were eight or nine years ago.
“The big difference with last year is that it is my second year as well as my team-mates’. We know each other better and I think we are better today than one year ago collectively.”
PSG were only narrowly beaten in the Champions League quarter final stage last season when Barcelona edged the French champions, with Ibrahimovic determined to win the competition at the Parc des Princes.
“This is my last contract in Europe and to win it I will have to win it with Paris,” said Ibrahimovic, who is under contract at the Parc des Princes until 2016.
“The day I leave Paris is the day I will go down a level or quit football. If we will be the kings of Europe, I don’t know. I don’t want to think so far ahead. Let’s think about the two games against Chelsea.”
