The party will be raging in Louisiana for quite some time coming off LSU’s 42-25 National Championship victory over Clemson in New Orleans. But the oddsmakers are already getting started on next year’s title game, with Clemson favored to bounce back in 2021 National Championship futures betting odds.

PointsBet lists the Tigers as a +200 favorite to win their second title in three years after LSU snapped their 29-game win streak at the Superdome. The Bayou Bengals aren’t as highly regarded with record-breaking quarterback Joe Burrow off to the NFL as the likely No. 1 overall pick. LSU is listed fifth in 2021 futures betting at +1000, behind Clemson, Ohio State (+300), Alabama (+550) and Georgia (+750).

At Unibet, though, Clemson and Ohio State are co-favorites at +250 with LSU the third choice at +600, followed by Alabama (+700) and Georgia (+800).

Familiar Spot for Clemson

Clemson was also the college football betting favorite for much of the 2019 season thanks to the playoff format. Just making the four-team postseason is a significant hurdle, and Clemson’s path is significantly easier in the ACC. That has as much to do with the odds as anything after Burrow dethroned the Tigers in convincing fashion.

Both Clemson and Ohio State return elite starting quarterbacks in Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields, but the Buckeyes have the tougher schedule with +300 odds. Ohio State travels to Oregon in Week 2 and plays at Penn State. Clemson does travel to Notre Dame in November but otherwise should run through its conference schedule for a sixth straight ACC Championship.

The fourth and final 2019-20 College Football Playoff team, Oklahoma, is listed sixth behind LSU at +2500. Oklahoma loses star quarterback Jalen Hurts and No. 1 receiver Cee Dee Lamb, who declared for the 2020 Draft after a stellar junior season in Norman. OU’s schedule does look manageable with nonconference matchups against Missouri State, Tennessee and Army.

Alabama also has plenty to replace with Tua Tagovailoa heading for the NFL Draft coming off a serious hip injury. Nick Saban is bringing in five-star quarterback Bryce Young, who will enroll this spring. The incoming freshman could compete with Mac Jones for the starting job after Jones filled in admirably for Tagovailoa down the stretch.

Next year’s CFP semifinals are set for Jan. 1, 2021 with the Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl, followed by the National Championship Jan. 11 in Miami.
