Argentina and Uruguay are heavy favourites and are likely to win their first Copa America matches
The Copa America continues with Group B action as Uruguay take on Jamaica and Argentina face Paraguay. Bookies.com take a look at both games, previewing all of the best odds and we’ll tell you exactly why we think who will win.
Uruguay v Jamaica
Oscar Tabarez’s side are overwhelmingly odds-on with Bet365 at 2/9 for victory and with start striker Edinson Cavani in fantastic form – 31 strikes this season says it all – Uruguay are destined to run riot against Jamaica.
The PSG striker is odds-on at 10/11 with SkyBet to score anytime and against Jamaica’s backline, the floodgates could well and truly open.
In defence, Uruguay can rely on Atletico lynchpin Diego Godin, who holds this rearguard together like glue, along with club teammate Jose Maria Gimenez. Any hint of a threat from Jamaica, will be quickly and efficiently stifled by this dynamic duo.
Argentina v Paraguay
La Albiceleste’s odds-on 1/3 price with PaddyPower, to beat Paraguay say it all. In fact, every bookie gives them a heavy odds-on price for victory.
Leading their line, they have two of the best forward players in world football, in Lionel Messi, widely regarded as untouchable and Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero, who recently won the Premier League top scorer award with 25 goals, in a team where the service, was at best, mediocre.
Put him in Barcelona or Real Madrid’s star-studded line-up, and you could probably expect a return that is close to almost double that, from one of the most naturally polished finishers in the modern game.
Messi’s 5/2 odds with Coral to score first and Aguero’s price of 7/2 with Bet365 in the same market are worth a punt, however, the ease at which this side create chances, taking odds on the pair to score two or more, are definitely good value. The former is 10/3 with BoyleSports, while Aguero is available 9/2 with Ladbrokes in the same market.
So what’s the bottom line here?
Argentina all the way. Did we mention Carlos Tevez and Gonzalo Higuain? The lethal duo are available at 5/4, both with SkyBet to notch in the anytime market, in what could easily be a whitewash.
With assist machine Angel Di Maria and Javier Pastore operating behind the front three, and Ever Banega’s box-to-box presence, starving Paraguay of the ball is likely to be achieved without even breaking a sweat.
Bookies recommended tip: Lionel Messi first scorer @ 5/2 with Coral
