Hazard cut to win PFA award after sensational EFL Cup goal at Anfield
Eden Hazard was lightly used by Maurizio Sarri for the opening few games of the 2018/19 Premier League season, although the Belgian is now up to full speed and looking sharp for Chelsea.
The forward lit up Anfield on Tuesday night with a sensational solo goal that helped the Blues win their EFL Cup clash against Liverpool, with Hazard collecting the ball from deep and working it into the area before firing a powerful shot into the net.
Some of the bookmakers reacted by going 3/1 about Hazard winning the PFA Player of the Year award, with the Belgian now clear favourite in this market despite the fact that Chelsea are only third favourites to win the title.
Bet365 go a lot bigger with their 9/2 quote and perhaps the best time to shine for this award is later in the campaign before the voting takes place. Let’s not forget how many accolades were being landed by Kevin de Bruyne last season before Mohamed Salah won the prize.
Salah is a 10/1 chance with BetVictor, while Sergio Aguero is also 10/1 with William Hill although there seems to be more of a penchant for attacking skilful players rather than goal-getters such as the Argentine.
Kevin de Bruyne is trading at 33/1 with bet365 and it wouldn’t be ridiculous for the Belgian to return to his best during the second half of the season and illustrate that he’s among the best in the Premier League.
At an even bigger price, James Milner is a 40/1 poke with bet365 and it could be that the “underrated” midfielder actually attracts many votes due to the fact that he’s such a fundamental part of the Liverpool team thus far.
