Hazard continues to be backed for PFA award after twice scoring against Liverpool last week
Eden Hazard is apparently “nailed on” to win this season’s PFA Player of the Year according to one bookmaker. BetVictor now offer odds of 6/4 about the Belgian winning this season’s Premier League award, with a spokesman admitting that his team faced large liabilities for this market if the Chelsea forward finished up with the most votes.
“Hazard is tearing it up,” a spokesman told bookies.com. “He was actually on the bench for the first few games of the season although Chelsea not being in the Champions League means we’re seeing the best of him this season.
“It looks as though a move to Real Madrid could be on the cards next summer, although Hazard looks determined to sign off with a flourish.”
Every other player is currently trading at double figures, with David Silva next in the market at 12/1 and Sergio Aguero is available at a similar price.
Perhaps it could be worth chancing Kevin de Bruyne at odds of 20/1 considering that the Manchester City player is just returning from injury and was looking set to win Player of the Year last season before Mohamed Salah pipped him at the post.
Eden Hazard has already won the PFA Player of the Year award before and it appears that the Belgian is a hot contender to scoop the accolade once more, with Ladbrokes now going 11/4 that he wins in May.
Whether that will mean silverware with Chelsea remains to be seen, although Hazard is the market leader to be voted for the top award by his peers and his recent scoring heroics against Liverpool has elevated him to the fore.
Firstly there was the goal in the EFL Cup where the forward danced around several opposition defenders before firing past Simon Mignolet, while the Belgian then ran through at Stamford Bridge to open the scoring against the same team on Saturday.
There’s a long way to go yet, with Mohamed Salah still capable of playing a part in proceedings this year and he’s an 8/1 poke with BetVictor to claim the PFA Player of the Year award for the second season running.
Sergio Aguero is 10/1 with the same bookmaker and has been scoring well so far this season, while Harry Kane has rediscovered his touch in front of goal and he’s the same price.
All odds were correct at time of posting.
