England should make short work of Lithuania as they cruise towards Euro 2016 qualification
Roy Hodgson could probably field a team made up of Championship players and still achieve a victory against Lithuania on Friday night.
Once again, we have a mismatch when it comes to a qualifier, with England set to enjoy a victory without conceding and we’re expecting it to finish 3-0 or 4-0 in favour of the Three Lions.
Roy Hodgson’s team have been flawless since the 2014 World Cup, winning all four of their qualifying matches and a win over Scotland last autumn demonstrated that this is a team who deserve to be among the favourites for Euro 2016.
So here is what’s going to happen on Friday?
England are going to win the match – obviously.
England are going to win without conceding. They have only conceded one goal in their first four qualifiers and Lithuania drew a blank in their matches against Switzerland and Slovenia.
Harry Kane is going to score – he’s set to start, is bang in form and couldn’t ask for a better opportunity to enjoy a scoring debut.
Lithuania are going to get plenty of men behind the ball so we might have to wait a little while for the opening goal.
So what are the best bets to have then?
Backing England at 1/10 won’t make you rich. Nor will backing Hodgson’s men to win without conceding even if 1/2 is five times better than the win price.
Harry Kane is a 2/5 chance to start the match with Coral so we’re working on the presumption that he will get the nod in attack with Wayne Rooney, with the same firm offering 4/5 that he scores in this match.
We think the correct score market is where you can enjoy a winner at bigger odds. If you work on the basis that Joe Hart will shut out the Lithuanian attack and that England will enjoy a comfortable victory, then how about:
In all four of England’s qualifiers to date, there have been more goals scored in the second half than the first half and we’re expecting something similar in this game.
Therefore, the 6/5 with William Hill that the second half features the most goals looks the pick!
