England Women v Canada Women tips – Three Lionesses a huge price to beat hosts

England v Belarus - Women's World Cup Qualifier

England Women can beat an overrated Canada side to book their place in the World Cup semi-finals

BETTING TIP: England Women to win @ 13/5 with BetVictor

Things are hotting up at the Women’s World Cup as we reach the business end of the competition, with England Women still standing after coming from behind to beat Norway in their last match.

Mark Sampson’s team will draw lots of confidence from the way in which they won that particular game and it continues the Three Lionesses’ momentum which has now seen them win three successive games in Canada.

The next assignment is clearly a tough one against the hosts, although it’s strange to see Canada Women as short as 6/5 to win this particular match. We were guilty of underestimating England in their last game and aren’t prepared to do it again!

Canada haven’t particularly been tested thus far, with a victory and two draws helping them finish top of a weak group, while one goal was enough for them to overcome Switzerland at the last sixteen stage.

The fact that Canadian goalkeeper Erin McLeod was the player of the match in that game tells you everything about the way in which the hosts approached the match and England could claim another scalp and take a step closer to winning the thing.

Confidence is coursing through the squad after the latest win and Sampson believes that his team have the weapons to pose serious problems to a Canada side who seem to struggle rather than thrive in front of huge crowds that are being generated.

“Norway were very difficult opponents, well organised and physically strong, and without question they were the better team in the first half.

“But we changed things around tactically in the second half, and the substitutions we made helped us to get what I thought in the end was a deserved win.

“Now we face a very good Canadian side that beat us just before the tournament started but who we’ve got a good record against recently.

“We’ve beaten them twice at the Cyprus Cup in the last 18 months, and we’ll go into Saturday’s game totally prepared because we want to keep this journey going.”

England are as big as 13/5 to win this game and we think that’s worth a fiver of anyone’s money.
