FA Cup third round fixtures, previews and tips – 8 / 9 / 10 January

Wycombe looking to shock the Villans...

It is FA Cup third round weekend, with Exeter v Liverpool kicking things off on Friday night

The FA Cup remains a fantastic competition, with lots of exciting ties taking place this coming weekend and it all gets started at St James’ Park on Friday evening.

League Two Exeter will host Liverpool hoping to cause a shock, while a team from the same division will face Aston Villa on Saturday lunchtime. Wycombe will certainly be sniffing blood against a Villans team who have been utterly hopeless this term.

There are a host of Saturday afternoon matches, with Doncaster Rovers hoping to claim a Premier League scalp against Stoke City, while Dagenham & Redbridge will hope to topple Everton at Goodison Park.

More realistically, Eastleigh should cause problems against a Bolton side rooted to the foot of the Championship, with the National League side capable of operating at a higher level.

Leeds and Rotherham meet in an all-Yorkshire derby at Elland Road, with Manchester City clashing with Norwich at Carrow Road. Manchester United are involved in the Saturday teatime clash against a Sheffield United team who will take thousands of visiting supporters to Old Trafford.

On Sunday, there are five cup clashes, with Scunthorpe hoping to follow in the footsteps of Bradford last season and win at Stamford Bridge. Swansea have a tough match away to Oxford United, while Spurs meet Leicester City at White Hart Lane.
