Bookies.com give their best value bets for the League Two, League One and Championship play-off clashes at Wembley over the Bank Holiday weekend.
The time for the play-off finals is almost upon us! Nail-biting 90 minutes, and beyond if necessary, await six sides looking to secure promotion in the most satisfying way possible.
Here at Bookies.com, we’ve picked our top tips for League Two (Southend United v Wycombe Wanderers), League One (Preston North End v Swindon Town) and the Championship (Middlesbrough v Norwich City).
Barry Corr scores anytime @ 19/10 with 888.com
Shrimpers striker Corr has a superb scoring record when previously paired with Wanderers. He has struck five times in six meetings against them in a Southend shirt. That means the Irish forward is Phil Brown’s biggest hope and goal threat, and we think Corr can come good again at Wembley.
Wycombe win in 90 minutes @ 2/1 with Boylepsorts
Although Brown’s previous play-off exploits see his Shrimpers side start as favourties, there’s plenty to like about backing Wycombe instead. Gareth Ainsworth continues to cut his teeth in management impressively at Adams Park, and Wanderers hold a handsome home win over Southend from earlier in the season going into this one-off contest.
Jermaine Beckford scores two or more @ 17/2 with William Hill
Simon Grayson is by far the coach to coax the most out of Preston’s play-off hero Beckford. Lured to Deepdale on loan from Bolton Wanderers, he once again repaid the faith shown in him by his former boss at Leeds United by firing Preston past Chesterfield. Beckford has three in two from the semi-finals, so this could be an astute shout.
Preston win 90 in minutes and both teams score @ 19/5 with 888.com
History may be against North End with those nine previous play-off failures but, up against a porous Swindon defence, Beckford and Joe Garner can run riot. At the opposite end, though, there is another 20-goal striker in Andy Williams, so taking a punt on Preston with both teams finding the target looks tasty at 888.com.
Middlesbrough win to nil @ 15/4 with BetVictor
Aitor Karanka’s men have beaten play-off final foes Norwich without conceding in both of the regular season meetings this term. As Boro boast the best defence in the division, and have only conceded once en route to Wembley, this looks a superb shout.
