Celtic can close in on title triumph with Dundee dominance

Celtic can take a huge step closer to another Scottish Premiership crown with a victory over rivals Dundee on home soil

Ronny Deila’s dominant Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic are close to wrapping up their 46th title triumph and a victory over Dundee at Celtic Park would see the Hoops step towards domestic success.

The brilliant Bhoys have already opened up an eight-point lead over second-placed Aberdeen in the league table and have been on an unstoppable run of form this calendar year. Deila’s superior Hoops have incredibly gone seven league games unbeaten and are on a three-match winning streak on home soil.

The defending Premiership champions are a best priced odds-on 5/6 with Paddy Power to secure a victory to nil and continue their rampant run of home form, while the visitors are a 20/1 chance with Sky Bet to cause an upset on their travels.

Celtic will be extremely confident of overcoming a stuttering Dundee outfit, as they hold a sensational head-to-head record over the Dees, having not been toppled by their opponents since May 2001. This amazing record stretches back an emphatic 22 games in all competitions and will undoubtedly play on the minds of Dundee’s players.

The hosts have already toppled their next opponents three times this season, with Leigh Griffiths having struck in two of those fixtures. Scotland international sharpshooter Griffiths is a 7/2 chance with Bet365 to open proceedings in his latest club outing. Dutchman Virgil van Dijk netted last in the previous meeting and is available at 10/1 with the same bookmakers to repeat his heroics at Celtic Park.

At the other end, Dundee boss and former Hoops midfielder Paul Hartley will be hoping his top league scorer Greg Stewart can add to his 13 season strikes. The sublime Scot is a 6/1 chance with Bet365 to slot home again anytime against the Bhoys.

A win for the home side would see them edge closer towards their second silverware success of the current campaign, having recently won the Scottish League Cup.

Betting tip: Griffiths to score first @ 7/2 with Bet365
