Cherries and Wilson in wait for rivals to play before Bolton battle

As 22-goal top scorer, Callum Wilson represents Bournemouth's best goal chance in their last home game of the campaign against Bolton Wanderers on Monday.

Waiting is always the hardest part, however, and something fans must be content with over the weekend while all the Cherries’ rivals for Championship promotion play.

The worst case scenario for Bournemouth supporters is they slip to fourth, courtesy of victories for Middlesbrough and Norwich City, and go into their game with Bolton four points behind Watford instead of one.

Cherries leading marksman Callum Wilson will want to fire the south coast side, who are a best price 3/10 with Coral and William Hill for victory in their penultimate league outing, back into contention.

At top odds of 7/4 with Paddy Power to scoop the Championship title (price subject to big potential change over the weekend), Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe is relying on Watford making a mistake and stumbled themselves last time out when held to a 2-2 draw by Sheffield Wednesday.

Being upset by the Trotters is hugely unlikely, which is reflected in lengthy odds of 11/1 with bet365, Boylesports and others. Neil Lennon’s men have nothing but pride left to play for, so this fixture should matter more to the Cherries.

In top scorer Wilson, Howe has a player seemingly destined for top-flight football. One way or another, punters can expect to see the former Coventry City striker in the Premier League next term.

Still only 23, Wilson has 22 goals in all competitions, with 19 coming in the league and three in his last four. Betfair have the best price on him netting anytime at 19/20, though it should be noted he bagged a brace in the reverse fixture up in Bolton back in October.

This included striking first and closing proceedings. It’s bet365 who offer the top price on Wilson grabbing the opener or having the final say at 7/2. Should punters fancy him for a repeat performance of two goals or more, then take 9/2 on offer at either Betfred or Ladbrokes.

All odds were correct at time of posting.
