New deal to help Henderson inspire Reds to Hawthorns win

Henderson happy after committing future to Anfield

Liverpool have handed midfielder Jordan Henderson a new five-year contract, and tying him down before playing West Bromwich Albion is handy.

Henderson, 24, has committed his future to Liverpool and looks set to be appointed new club captain at Anfield when Kop idol Steven Gerrard leaves Merseyside for MLS franchise LA Galaxy this summer.

The deal, reportedly worth £100k per week in wages, will keep England midfielder Henderson at the Reds until the summer of 2020. “I’m over the moon that it’s finally done,” he told Liverpool’s official website.

“There has been talk about it for a while now. It’s brilliant news for me to commit my future to this football club – I really feel that it’s a good time for us to look forward to the future, with the squad we’ve got, the manager, the size of the club and the fans we’ve got. I really think, over the next few years, we can challenge and start winning trophies.

“That’s the next phase; we’ve improved massively over the last few years, and I think the next phase for us is to start challenging for titles and trophies as well.”

It hands Reds boss Brendan Rodgers a major boost ahead of their Premier League outing at West Bromwich Albion, with Liverpool looking to bounce back from losing an FA Cup semi-final last time out. They are even-money with BetVictor and Boylesports for victory.

Henderson had a major influence on the reverse fixture against the Baggies, setting up Adam Lallana’s opener before scoring the winner back in October. He comes into the encounter in the West Midlands with four goals in his last six league outings, and that is fine form from a box-to-box midfield role he’s made his own.

This makes Henderson awesome anytime value at a top price 5/1 with Coral. It was the last goal he grabbed when facing West Brom previously, however, so punters can consider him to do so again with the best bet being at the same bookmaker.
