Rome derby: Totti to ensure Roma take spoils against Lazio

In Totti we trust? Roma icon loves scoring against Lazio previews the betting for the forthcoming Rome derby, as the Eagles jostle with the Giallorossi

The Derby della Capitale is one of the most eagerly awaited clashes in the Italian footballing calendar, and this upcoming duel should have added spice.

Cross-capital competitors Lazio (6/4 to win with Betfred) and Roma (priced at 28/13 for victory by will once again do battle, but this time second spot and an automatic Champions League place are at stake.

The Eagles, who briefly overtook the Giallorossi, are now one point behind their local rivals heading into the penultimate matchday, but with a final meeting against Napoli coming up, a draw at 12/5 with Sky Bet may not be enough.

Homegrown players are often the lifeblood of derbies such as this, so expect evergreen skipper and striker Francesco Totti to stand up and be counted. The iconic Italian attacker has hit 11 career goals against the Eagles, including a brace last time out, to make sure Roma ended on even terms.

Back legendary Totti at superb odds of 7/1 with bet365 to settle this bitter Roman rivalry by scoring last, while attacking midfield pair Miralem Pjanic and Adem Ljajic are 4/1 and 12/5 in the anytime market respectively with BetVictor.

Lazio, meanwhile, have won just one of their previous four encounters with their fellow Stadio Olimpico side, and are in patchy form following only two triumphs in their past six Serie A games and a dispiriting extra-time Coppa Italia final defeat to Juventus.

Trying to drag the previously high-flying Eagles over the finish line will be highly-rated Brazilian wizard Felipe Anderson, whose tricky feet caused Juve no end of trouble. After striking against the Giallorossi earlier this campaign, the sought-after starlet is offered at a 7/2 best market price to grab a goal anytime by BetVictor, while partner in crime Antonio Candreva is 11/4 with the same bookies.

Lazio also boast prolific poacher Miroslav Klose, who is a tempting chance at 5/1 to fire home first, while Eagles captain Stefano Mauri, just like Totti, has a taste for high profile tussles, and is available at 7/1 with William Hill to snatch the opener against Roma for the second time this term.

Top tip: Totti @ 7/1 with bet365 to score last
