Croatian midfielder Ivan Rakitic has scored for and against both Barcelona and Sevilla during his career over the last two seasons and Bookies.com has identified him as a player to watch in the UEFA Super Cup between the two sides.

He is a best-price and a sure fire free bet winner at 14/1 with bet365 to score first and looks set to play a key part for Barca this term, following the departure of club legend Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta waning.

With the Catalan club starting their six-trophy quest in the UEFA Super Cup against his former employers Sevilla, Rakitic is upbeat about Barcelona’s chances. “The hunger this team has is impressive,” he said.

“Nobody wants to win the sextuple more than us, but we know it will be difficult to repeat our success because everyone will go for us,” said the player after a recent training session.

“For all the former Sevilla players at Barcelona, it’s a special game. I’m a Sevilla fan but not for this game. We will play for a title,” continued Rakitic, referring to ex-Bathtubs full backs Dani Alves and Adriano Correia.

Rakitic, who is definitely worth considering as an anytime scorer at top odds of 7/2 with Coral, loves this fixture. He also explained how much effort the team has been putting into preparing for this match.

“We are working very hard because we have a lot of respect for them,” Rakitic continued. “We know that we will not be 100 per cent, but we play for the first title and there are no excuses.”

When asked about his role at the club now Xavi has left, Rakitic was humble about how he can make an impact. “I don’t know if now that Xavi’s gone I’m more of a leader or not. I’m Ivan Rakitic and I only intend to be who I am. I would like to have responsibility as in Sevilla I was captain and in Croatia I was the third.”

His new team are odds-on at 1/7 with Ladbrokes to lift the trophy and Rakitic will be looking to impress against his former club.

Bookies.com top tip: Rakitic scores anytime @ 7/2 with Coral
