Barty vs Pliskova: Wimbledon Women’s Final Betting Tips

This final could be a classic with top seed Barty facing a rival she certainly has not dominated in the past. Here are three potential betting markets you may want to check out at the top sportsbooks.

Three sets

Between them, Barty and Pliskova have been taken to three sets on just three occasions so far this summer. Both have dominated their serve and proved deadly on the baseline. And we could well see an attritional match here on Centre Court. Don’t be surprised if this goes into a third set.

Few breaks

If you open your betting apps hoping to bet on a match with plenty of breaks then look elsewhere, because we’re unlikely to witness too many breaks of serve here. Barty is one of the most dominant servers in the game and lost just one of six break points during her semi-final win over Angelique Kerber. Pliskova, meanwhile, surrendered just one break point across her entire three-set victory over Aryna Sabalenka.

Tiebreaks

With the above bet in mind, it’s very likely that this final could go into more than one tiebreak. Barty has been taken to just two tiebreaks all tournament but she hasn’t come up against the return power of Pliskova yet. Both players are happy to knock the ball on the baseline and work their way into points. It could therefore be an energy-sapping afternoon at Wimbledon that goes the distance.

Barty vs Pliskova: Wimbledon Women’s Final Prediction

Looking at the sports betting odds and the form guide, Barty should narrowly win this encounter. These players have met seven times in the past and it's the Aussie who has taken the most wins. Barty has won her last three encounters with Pliskova - yet the good thing from the Czech's point of view is she beat Barty at Nottingham in 2016 on their only clash on grass.

There’s very little to split the players but experience could edge the match Barty’s way. As for prop bets, the obvious one is this match goes into a third set. Another is the tempting proposition of Barty dropping her first set before rallying to win in three. That's happened in four of her five previous victories over Pliskova.

Barty vs Pliskova: Wimbledon Women’s Final, Date & TV

The 2021 Wimbledon Women's final is scheduled for Saturday, July 10. The match will start at 9 a.m. E.T. and is one of the most eagerly anticipated sporting events of the summer. The final will be played on Centre Court in front of a full crowd of just under 15,000 people.

Barty vs Pliskova will be shown live on TV and online across the United States via ESPN. Coverage will last up to six hours, though the match itself is unlikely to run past three hours.

ESPN will also be showing every serve, shot and smash from the final live on its online platform and app.
