The California swing is heating up as the Tour heads to one of the game’s most iconic venues in Pebble Beach. The golf betting board includes a few big names at the top and plenty of wagering opportunities on the annual pro-am.

Format is slightly different this week with the tournament spread across three different courses in Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill and Monterey Peninsula Country Club. Players complete that rotation in Rounds 1-3 prior to a 54-hole cut, then return to Pebble Beach for the final round.

Long Beach, California native Patrick Cantlay is the favorite at betting sites and betting apps with +650 odds – Cantlay finished T-3 in this tournament a year ago.

Defending champion Daniel Berger is second on the board at +900 and Jordan Spieth is third with golf odds of +1600.

Justin Rose and Jason Day round out the top five, with both players listed at +1800.

Best Bet: Russell Knox Top-10 Finish

Knox isn’t all that long off the tee, so this is one of the tournaments he has circled every year. Shorter hitters can and have won at Pebble Beach, which places far more emphasis on the approach shot.

The 36-year-old Scotsman has good history here with a T-7 last year, as well as back-to-back top-15 finishes in 2018-2019. Knox comes in under the radar this week as is usually the case. He recently strung four solid rounds together for a T-7 finish at the Sony Open and the irons are sharp, per usual.

Knox has finished 26th or better in Strokes Gained Approach in each of the past three seasons, so these three classic layouts definitely fit his game.

Don’t be fooled by the usual antics and overly-chill atmosphere in Rounds 1-3, where celebrity staples like Bill Murray and Ray Romano eat into broadcast time and distract from the on-course action. It’s always all business come Sunday. Winning at Pebble Beach is a bucket list accomplishment for most on Tour and we’ll see who can seize the moment in Round 4.

The greens at Pebble Beach are some of the smallest anywhere. They’re downright tiny by Tour standards. Distance off the tee can only do so much if the wedges aren’t sharp. The setup is always much friendlier than we’d see for a U.S. Open here, so Strokes Gained Approach is the best indicator of success by far.

Any type of player can win here if the irons are sharp. The recent winners list is a who’s who of ballstrikers including the likes of Daniel Berger, Phil Mickelson, Jordan Spieth and Brandt Snedeker. We aren’t discriminating by age or distance this week. Find your favorite irons players this week and don’t be afraid to go a little deeper down the betting board than usual.
