The Rocket Mortgage Classic is entering its fourth year on the PGA Tour calendar, with tournament directors landing a decent field in 2022 all things considered.

Five of the top 20 players in the world will be in action at Detroit Golf Club, where Cam Davis will look to defend his title having outlasted Troy Merritt and Joaquin Niemann in a three-man playoff to win at 18-under-par in 2021.

World No. 4 Patrick Cantlay is a significant betting favorite on betting apps at +800 odds – he’s been top-15 or better in seven of his last eight starts, including a T-8 at the British Open. Will Zalatoris is next at +1200 for his second go-round at this event, while Tony Finau is third at +1400 coming off his big comeback win at the 3M Open in Minneapolis.

Max Homa has the same golf odds at +1400, while Cameron Young rounds out the top five on the golf betting board at +1800.

Callum Tarren Top-10 Finish

Odds: +900 at DraftKings

Tarren is coming off a T-7 finish at the 3M Open, and we like his chances again this week. The 31-year-old Brit now sits just one spot outside the top 125 in the FedEx Cup standings, with a real chance to earn his Tour card again after missing the cut or DQing in eight consecutive tournaments to start the season.

Tarren bombs it off the tee with an average driving distance of 310.9 yards, and the irons aren’t bad either. He was near the top in both categories last week and finished ninth in Strokes Gained tee-to-green in Minneapolis. He’s also risen to the occasion in events with similar fields, going T-5 at the Puerto Rico Open and T-6 at the John Deere Classic.

2022 Rocket Mortgage Classic Betting Tips

Detroit Golf Club is a classic layout with a rich history. It’s located less than 10 miles from downtown proper and boasts an early-20th century clubhouse designed by famed Detroit architect Albert Kahn, who designed much of the city’s skyline and industrial landscape as well.

The beautiful building welcomes players to a very gettable course by modern standards. Bomb and gouge is the play here, as Bryson DeChambeau showed with his driving exhibition in 2020. Accuracy off the tee isn’t a huge deal as there’s just not that many spots of bother for the top hitters.

We’re also targeting players who make hay on the par 5s. There’s four of them on the par-72 layout, three of which should be gettable for the bigger hitters. Cam Davis played the par 5s at 12-under-par for the week when he won it a year ago, and players can’t miss any chances there. Approach shots are important on some of the tricky par-3s, but mostly we’re targeting big hitters on betting sites who can hang in a shootout and seem to be in good form this week.
