Our racing expert has three horses to back at Wolverhampton, all at good prices.
Theodore Ladd is proving value for his claim with three of his 12 winners in 2018 coming in the last fortnight from just 11 rides. He has a couple of rides at the Midlands venue this evening and his best chance appears to lie with Hughie Morrison’s REQUITED, who is making his handicap debut in the 5f nursery. The son of Requinto has not finished closer than fifth in his three starts to date but all three of his runs have been over 6f and, given he’s been showing plenty of pace, the drop back to the minimum should suit. Off an opening mark of 71 and with his apprentice rider taking 7lb off, a much improved effort can be expected.
INVISIBLE STORM could be the answer to the 6f handicap on the card. William Stone’s three-year-old filly was a ready all-the-way winner of a course and distance novice 12 days ago and that wasn’t unexpected given the promise she’d shown on her racecourse debut again over track and trip back in April when fourth behind the smart Promising. The daughter of Multiplex clearly enjoys the Tapeta surface here and given her dominating display, breaking smartly from a poor draw (13) and finding plenty in the final furlong, she is improving fast. Now handicapping off what could prove a lenient mark (69) and better drawn in stall two, a follow up is very much on the cards with Hollie Doyle renewing the partnership.
James Tate’s TENNESSEE BELLE looks the one to be on in the 7f handicap and especially if the market speaks in her favour given her absence of 116 days. Although well beaten in her three qualifying runs, she led for a long way on the most recent of those over a mile at Chelmsford, where she was cooked from the turn in, and is bred to be better than her opening mark of 62 being a daughter of Teofilo, who was an unbeaten Group 1 winner over this trip at two. Indeed, it might be that she proves more effective over shorter in handicaps as her dam was a 5f Group 3 winner. The booking of Robert Winston is another thing in her favour here.
