Horse Racing Tips of the Day – Wednesday October 31

Our racing expert has three suggested bets at Nottingham this afternoon.

It’s not a day to go overboard on anything but, if you must have a flutter, the following Nottingham runners might just help you turn a profit.

BRAVERY is dropping down in grade for the class 4 handicap over a mile and while he’s on a long losing run going back to last year’s Lincoln Handicap, it will be disappointing if he can’t at least be competitive.

David O’Meara’s five-year-old has faced some stiff tasks of late, including in the Cambridgeshire three starts back, and would have found 1m2f stretching his stamina at York last time. But in between those runs he managed a respectable fifth (of 15) in a Redcar class 2 and he was beaten less than a length into second at the same track in August.

Clearly, the ability that he showed on Town Moor is still there and, if putting his best foot forward this afternoon, he must surely go close off his lowest ever handicap mark (85) against inferior opposition.

INVINCIBELLA could be the answer to the 5f nursery as Jonathan Portman’s filly has shown enough on her three outings to date to suggest she can defy her opening mark of 72.

It wasn’t much of a race she won at Kempton two starts back, admittedly, but she was still green on that occasion and probably ran to a better level when finishing runner-up under a penalty on her subsequent start at Chelmsford.

That suggests she is still improving, which cannot necessarily be said of her rivals, all of whom have already shown their full hand to the handicapper, and she’s getting weight from all bar the two runners out of the handicap proper.

TARTE TROPEZIENNE has been knocking on the door of late and it might open for her in the 1m6f handicap, with James Doyle taking the reigns for the first time since guiding her into third at Windsor in May off a 10lb higher mark than today’s.

She’s changed stables since and, now under the care of the in-form Ian Williams, ran her best race of the season so far when beaten a neck by the progressive Jedhi (getting 3lb) over this track and trip 14 days ago.

That effort can be upgraded further given that she raced a bit too keenly for her own good and was denied a clear run two furlongs out, and a reproduction here may well suffice as her rivals have questions to answer.
