Italy now 11/1 to win Euro 2016 after beating Belgium 2-0
Some were claiming this was a bang average Italy team, although Antonio Conte managed to get a tune out of the Azzurri on Monday night, with a 2-0 victory over Belgium highly impressive.
It puts the Italians into pole position with regard to Group E, with Conte’s men now sitting top of the table and strong favourites to claim further successes against Sweden and Republic of Ireland.
Ladbrokes have reported that Italy are the first big market mover, with the Azzurri now 11/1 from 18/1 to win Euro 2016, with several punters latching on to this impressive performance.
A Ladbrokes spokesman told www.bookies.com: “We’ve seen a big plunge on Italy after the final whistle against Belgium, with our customers wanting to get with a side who can defend like warriors.
“Buffon, Chiellini, Barzagli and Bonucci look rock solid at the back, while the Azzurri moved the ball around well and were great value for their win.
“We’ve trimmed Italy to 11/1 although they do have a tough-looking route to the final and perhaps they will flatter to deceive.”
France remain the 16/5 favourites to win Euro 2016 after a last-gasp win over Romania, with Germany and Spain remaining at 4/1 and 5/1 respectively after wins against Ukraine and Czech Republic.
England are fourth favourites at 8/1 although they have some pressure on their shoulders ahead of Thursday’s clash against a Wales team who are still 80/1 on the outright market despite beating Slovakia.
