Leeds Rhinos are tipped as the favourites to win the Super League Grand Final
Having won the trophy six times since 2004, the West Yorkshire outfit boast arguably one of the best squads in Super League and are fantastic form coming into this, winning four out of their last six fixtures.
There has also, to huge success, been a massive emphasis on youth, with winger Ash Handley, Liam Sutcliffe, Josh Walters and Elliot Minchella three of a talented crop of youngsters who can step into the shoes of ‘the old guard’, comprising of Jamie Peacock (this being his last season), Danny McGuire, Rob Burrow and fearless, legendary leader Kevin Sinfield.
Last season was all about the lethal and prolific partnership of Ryan Hall and Kallum Watkins, who were relied upon to score most of the tries, though this campaign, the Rhinos have shown proficiency to score from all over the field, something that coach Brian McDermott clearly worked on in pre-season.
Wigan, who have been the Rhinos’ biggest challengers in Super League this year have applied similar philosophies and are also 5/2 with bet365 to win the Grand Final, however, after two seasons without the trophy, the Rhinos will be spoiling for a fight and both Peacock and Sinfield will want to leave on a high.
McDermott’s side are also going for a treble, which, as well as the League Leaders Shield and the Grand Final, could include the Challenge Cup. They are 15/8 with BetVictor to win the oldest trophy in rugby league and face St Helens in the semi-final.
Potential challengers for the Grand Final, who Leeds will have to be on top of their game to beat, include Warrington (9/1 with Ladbrokes) and the holders Saints, available at 11/4 with Coral, though the Rhinos are more than capable of overcoming them.
