Leicester beat Liverpool 2-0 to go five points clear of Arsenal and the bookies are taking them seriously
It continues to be an amazing season for Leicester City. We’re now into February and the Foxes continue to stay strong for a title challenge that precisely nobody was predicting in August.
Leicester have racked up 50 points from 24 games played after beating Liverpool on Tuesday night thanks to Jamie Vardy scoring an amazing opening goal before doubling his team’s lead.
The Foxes travel to Manchester City this weekend and are now as short as 4/1 (BetVictor) to lift the 2015/16 title, with Claudio Ranieri’s side three points clear of Manchester City and a further two ahead of Tottenham and Arsenal.
Ladbrokes take a slightly dimmer view of Leicester’s chances, with the Magic Sign going 5/1 about the Midlands side, although the Foxes are no bigger than 2/7 (William Hill) to claim a top four spot which would mean Champions League football.
Manchester City are the 5/4 favourites (Paddy Power) to win this season’s title after landing a 1-0 win at Sunderland although Manuel Pellegrini’s side were far from convincing and required some last-gasp defending to keep out the Black Cats.
Arsenal are out to 10/3 (BetVictor) and appear to be hitting the buffers at precisely the wrong time, with the Gunners held to a goalless draw against a Southampton team who have picked up in recent weeks.
Tottenham are firmly in the title race and they have been trimmed to 6/1 by Ladbrokes after a 3-0 win at Norwich which hauls them level with Arsenal.
Manchester United are a 33/1 chance to win the title although surely have too much work on their hands despite a 3-0 win over Stoke City on Tuesday night.
