Reds now third favourites to win competition after dumping out Manchester City
Liverpool supporters are now daring to dream after a formidable 5-1 aggregate victory against Manchester City in the quarter finals of the Champions League.
The Reds had to weather a first-half storm at the Etihad on Tuesday night and could have trailed by more than a goal going into half-time, although a Mohamed Salah goal after the break effectively ended the tie.
Roberto Firmino added the cherry on the cake, with Liverpool now into the Champions League semi-final draw on Friday and bet365 offer 10/3 about the Merseyside team winning the competition.
Manchester City weren’t the only high-profile team to leave the competition, with Barcelona losing 3-0 at the Stadio Olimpico thanks to a stirring comeback from Roma who will now fancy their chances of winning the whole thing.
The Italian side were 4-1 down from the first leg at the Nou Camp, although Edin Dzeko’s away goal proved to be valuable in the end, with Roma producing a perfect performance to beat a team who had been favourites to win the Champions League.
Tuesday night’s events mean that Real Madrid are a 6/4 poke with bet365 to claim a third consecutive victory in the Champions League, with Los Merengues having won 3-0 in Juventus last week.
Bayern Munich are a 2/1 poke and they should come through against Sevilla, with all teams hoping to draw Roma despite the heroics of the Italian team in terms of finishing top of a tough Champions League group and then coming through against Shakhtar and Barca.
