Liverpool beat Paris Saint-Germain 3-2 and are now joint-third favourites to win the competition
They made the final of last season’s Champions League against the odds and it would take a brave person to bet against Liverpool this time around.
The Reds served up a statement of intent by beating Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night, with goals from Sturridge, Milner and Firmino ensuring that they banked an early three points during the group stage.
The bookmakers reacted to a fine performance by cutting Liverpool’s odds on the outright market, with bet365 now offering 7/1 that the Reds claim a sixth European Cup triumph.
PSG are out to 10/1 with the same bookmaker but will feel as though they competed fairly well at Anfield and did come close to landing a point against Liverpool.
Barcelona started their Champions League campaign in a menacing fashion when beating PSV and bet365 go 6/1 about the Catalan club winning the competition, with Lionel Messi kicking off with a hat-trick.
Atletico Madrid were cut to 12/1 after winning away to Monaco, with Manchester City remaining favourites ahead of their home clash against Lyon.
All odds were correct at time of posting.
