Manchester City manager claims his team will handle pressure

Manuel Pellegrini’s team two wins away from claiming the Premier League title

Manchester City are hot favourites to reclaim their Premier League crown following Liverpool’s home defeat against Chelsea before the Reds dropped more points when drawing 3-3 with Crystal Palace.

It means that the champions of two seasons ago merely need to beat Aston Villa and West Ham at home to claim the title, with Manuel Pellegrini hoping that his team can avoid any slip-ups against two teams who should really be beaten easily.

“We have experienced players, they’ve been in a similar situation two years ago,” he said. “We have the pressure to win, but we’ve had it the whole year.

“From the beginning of the season, I always said that this team wants to win the title. Now we will try to do it.”

Sergio Aguero will be missing on Wednesday night, with Pellegrini claiming that he didn’t watch the Liverpool game on Monday, with the Chilean focused on the job in hand.

“I did not watch Liverpool on Monday as I was watching videos of our opponents tonight,” he said.

“The only way to continue in our position is to win the three points and after that we can analyse all the other things when the race is over.

“If I try to be calm, it’s because I think it’s the best way for the players to play these two games, but I don’t want to talk about the title race now.”
