Red Devils win away to Juventus and are now massive favourites to reach knockout phase
Rumours of Manchester United’s demise under Jose Mourinho appear to be proving premature, with the Red Devils having rallied in recent weeks and their 2-1 victory on Wednesday night was the best result of the season to date.
Having trailed 1-0 to a marvellous Cristiano Ronaldo opener, United produced a late comeback to win against Juventus, with Juan Mata’s free-kick followed by an own goal which gives United a strong chance of reaching the last sixteen.
The bookmakers are expecting the Red Devils to finish ahead of Valencia, with BetVictor offering 1/8 that United make the knockout phase compared to the 9/2 that Los Che manage to overhaul their opponents and land second spot behind Juve.
While only two points separate the two teams going into Match Day 5, the next round of games see Manchester United entertain Young Boys, while Juventus go up against Valencia, so it looks likely that the Red Devils won’t need anything at the Mestalla in their final game.
Manchester United are now 33/1 with bet365 to win this season’s Champions League and Mourinho will certainly feel that his team can go deep after winning in Turin even if there was an element of fortune about it.
Manchester City have hardened to 100/30 favourites to land the European Cup, with Pep Guardiola’s side putting six past Shakhtar most recently, while Liverpool have drifted out to 13/1 with Unibet after losing 2-0 away to Red Star Belgrade.
