Min, Douvan, Annie Power and Vroum Vroum Mag 25/1 to win at Cheltenham

The Willie Mullins Cheltenham Day 1 four-timer available at 25/1 after Annie Power tilted at Champion Hurdle

Punters are starting to get something commonly known as “Cheltenham Fever”, with the Festival taking place between 15 March and 18 March.

Day 1 of the Festival is attracting plenty of attention because it’s by far the best day of racing at the meeting, with Willie Mullins assembling an attack which could see him go one better than twelve months ago.

On the opening day of the 2015 renewal, we saw Douvan, Faugheen and Un De Sceaux won their respective races before Annie Power’s fall at the last in the Mares’ Hurdle saw punters miss out on piles of cash.

However, a similar scenario is developing this year, with Mullins having the favourite for the same four races.

Min will go to post as market leader for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, Douvan looks already home and hosed in the Arkle, Annie Power is now jolly for the Champion Hurdle after Faugheen’s withdrawal while Vroum Vroum Mag looks set to go off odds-on for the Mares’ Hurdle.

Paddy Power are currently laying over 25/1 about the Mullins four-timer and some will think it’s effectively a double featuring Min and Annie Power, with Douvan and Vroum Vroum Mag looking cut and dried for their respective races.

“We’ve got to supplement her (Annie Power), but Vroum Vroum Mag would look a possible for the Mares’ Hurdle and if that’s the case I would imagine Annie would go for the Champion,” said Mullins.

“Going back two years we felt Annie could be a Champion Hurdle horse, but we had Hurricane Fly in it and you’d have to think maybe this is the year she should run in it.

“I don’t think coming back to two miles will be any trouble to her. When you consider how many horses we could enter for a Champion Hurdle she’d be as fast as any of them.

“She’s good and keen at home and I’m happy with that as we need her to get all that work.

“I’d imagine she’ll wear the hood, it will certainly make her easier to ride. With the pace they’ll be going in the Champion she probably need not have it, but it will cost nothing to wear and it might make her easier to manage.”
