The 2019 NFL Draft has come and gone as a new wave of talent has been infused into NFL rosters. While a number of teams made some head-scratching decisions at the draft, several others were lauded for shrewd decisions. The Super Bowl odds didn’t change a whole lot but a few teams saw a significant change.

Let’s take a closer look and see how the Super Bowl LIV odds were impacted following the draft:

Cardinals Odds Get Huge Boost

The Cardinals were one of the biggest longshots to win Super Bowl LIV, but that changed after the 2019 NFL Draft. With the first pick overall, the Cardinals selected Kyler Murray, who will be their immediate starter at quarterback.

The position was one of their biggest weaknesses last year. The Cardinals also added a slew of weapons around him, including Andy Isabella, Hakeem Butler and KeeSean Johnson.

As a result, the Cardinals have jumped up from +15000 (150/1) at PointsBet, up to +8000 (80/1).

“We brought Arizona from 150/1 into 80/1 post-Draft not only because of Murray but a string of high-value later-round selections at corner and receiver,” said Ron Shell, VP of PointsBet US.

Now the teams with the longest odds to win the Super Bowl are the Cincinnati Bengals (100/1), Detroit Lions (100/1), Buffalo Bills (150/1) and the Miami Dolphins (200/1).

Chiefs Odds Slip After Tyreek Hill News

The uncertain future of Tyreek Hill has caused the Chiefs’ odds to fall.

The Chiefs have been the co-favorites for Super Bowl LIV since the lines opened, but they’ve have slipped a little. Star wide receiver Tyreek Hill shas been suspended indefinitely due to off-field incidents involving domestic violence.

The Chiefs didn’t have a first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft but spent their top selection – a second-round pick – on Mecole Hardman, a similarly undersized speedy wide receiver. Some feel as though this could be a precursor for Hill’s impending release as Hardman offers a similar skillset.

The Chiefs have dropped from +800 (8/1) to +1000 (10/1), as now the Patriots are the clear-cut favorite to win it all at +750. (15/2)

Strong Draft Helps Redskins Inch Up Board

The Redskins’ strong draft started with their selection of Ohio State QB Dwayne Haskins.

Another team that really helped themselves at the 2019 NFL Draft was the Washington Redskins. The team that surprisingly led the NFC East division for much of the season addressed its most glaring weakness: quarterback.

We’re not sure if Alex Smith (injury) will ever return to the football field while Case Keenum and Colt McCoy are mostly backup-caliber. The Redskins infused a lot of optimism at the position by draft Dwayne Haskins with the No. 15 pick in the draft. Many people felt he was the best quarterback overall, so the fact that they were able to acquire him at that point is viewed as very shrewd.

The Redskins didn’t stop there as they traded back into the first round and added linebacker Montez Sweat, an outside rusher with blazing speed. The Redskins front seven on defense looks scary with Pro Bowler Ryan Kerrigan and recent first-round picks Jonathan Allen (2017), Daron Payne (2018) and Reuben Foster (signed from San Francisco).

“We shortened Washington from 100/1 to 80/1 after getting Haskins and Sweat. Both fell unexpectedly,” Shell said.
