Aston Villa are searching for a new manager and David Moyes is currently the bookmaker favourite
Aston Villa sit thirteenth in the Championship table after a fairly flat start to the season, with a promotion charge looking unlikely to materialise at this moment in time.
While the Midlands side only sit two points outside of the play-offs, it appears that there are deep-lying issues at the club as the owners search for a successor to Steve Bruce after sacking him this week.
David Moyes has emerged as the surprise favourite to take charge of the Villans, despite this likely to prove an underwhelming appointment for the majority of supporters.
BetVictor go 5/4 about the Scot returning to management and taking charge of the Championship club, with Moyes having most recently been in charge at West Ham where he did a reasonable job.
Thierry Henry was linked to this post in the summer when Bruce was still manager and Ladbrokes have 7/1 that the Frenchman is hired for this post although he might turn his nose up at the prospect of it.
Paul Cook is 10/1 to jump ship from Wigan and he has previous when it comes to showing ambition to manage bigger clubs, while Paulo Fonseca and Dean Smith are around the same price.
Smith looks like a good candidate considering the tune he has gotten out of Brentford over the past couple of years allied to the fact that he’s a Birmingham native.
All odds were correct at time of posting.
