Ryan Giggs is on the bookmaker shortlist for the Hull job, although Steve McClaren and Steve Evans could also be interviewed
Steve Bruce has departed the KC Stadium just weeks after guiding Hull City to the Premier League, with the Tigers now searching for a replacement before the 2016/17 season starts.
Mike Phelan takes temporary charge of City, with bet365 offering 11/2 that the former Manchester United assistant gets the job on a permanent basis and a decent start could see him get the nod.
However, the Hull owners will potentially want a new man from the outside and Ryan Giggs might be ready to step up to his first managerial role, with BetVictor offering 8/1 that the Welshman replaces former team-mate Bruce at the KC.
Giggs has spent the previous few years as part of the Manchester United management set-up, working with David Moyes before continuing with Louis van Gaal, although Jose Mourinho doesn’t want the former United winger in his coaching staff.
Whether Giggs wants to go to a newly-promoted Premier League club who might struggle without serious investment is another matter. Steve McClaren is a 7/1 chance with Paddy Power, with the former England coach having failed miserably with Newcastle last season although he has a wealth of experience.
Steve Evans is an 8/1 chance with BetVictor and the former Leeds manager has done pretty well, especially at Rotherham where he enjoyed promotion with the Millers although he’s never managed at the top level.
Neil Warnock can’t be discounted at odds of 8/1, with Roberto Martinez among the manager names on the shortlist, although William Hill are prepared to chalk up 10/1 about the Spaniard.
