Antonio Conte and Mauricio Pochettino among the favourites to replace Julen Lopetegui at Real Madrid
Zinedine Zidane promptly left Real Madrid at the end of last season, with the Frenchman deciding to quite while he was ahead after winning an impressive three consecutive Champions League titles.
Julen Lopetegui was poached from the Spanish FA although his reign came to an abrupt end after a 5-1 mauling in the Clasico and Real are now assessing their options when it comes to finding a replacement.
There are some familiar names near the top of the betting shortlist, with Mauricio Pochettino looking particularly disgruntled at Tottenham at the moment and BetVictor offer 7/2 about the Spurs manager leaving London and heading to the Spanish capital.
Pochettino clearly has grand ambitions when it comes to his managerial career, although perhaps he will be overlooked and Antonio Conte is trading at a similar price.
The former Chelsea manager is currently a free agent and BetVictor offer 3/1 about Conte taking charge at Real Madrid, with the Italian having previously made a big impact in England where he won the Premier League title at the first time of asking.
However, Santiago Solari is in the box seat according to the bookmakers, with the current caretaker boss trading at 8/11 and perhaps he’s the man who will get a chance to impress over anyone else.
Roberto Martinez has also been linked to the vacant role and deserves credit for his work with the Belgian national side, with BetVictor offering 6/1, while Arsene Wenger is an 8/1 poke.
