David Moyes and Michael O’Neill head the betting market to replace Gordon Strachan and become the next manager of Scotland
Gordon Strachan continues to mull over whether he’s prepared to remain in charge of the Scotland national football team, with the Scots having narrowly missed out on the World Cup qualifying play-offs even if that would have meant a tough double header against a side like Italy, Switzerland or Croatia.
David Moyes might be waiting in the wings for this role should Strachan walk away, with the former Manchester United boss available at 3/1, while Malky Mackay chalked up at 3/1 also and he might jump at the chance to get back into senior football management.
Derek McInnes is an 8/1 poke while Alex McLeish is available at 10/1 although Moyes and Mackay are currently the front runners.

Team of Scotland, when will we see your like in the World Cup?
Once again, the Scots were bridesmaids when it came to qualifying for a major tournament and the speculation is now rife as to who will be the next manager of the Scotland national football team.
David Moyes is currently out of work and BetVictor go 3/1 about the former Everton manager who might jump at the chance to steer Scotland into major tournaments and give the supporters some much-needed cheer.
Moyes would be a popular selection with the fans despite his failed stints with Manchester United and Sunderland, with the Scot having previously done well with Everton and clearly passionate about his country doing well.
If there was no interest from that quarter, then perhaps Michael O’Neill could be persuaded to take charge, with BetVictor offering 4/1 about the current Northern Ireland manager who might be keen on a new project after attempting to steer his current side to the 2018 World Cup.
Malky Mackay is a 6/1 chance and has a decent track record despite the negative PR that accompanied his time at Cardiff City, while Alex McLeish is an 8/1 poke although maybe he won’t be interested in a second bite of the cherry when it comes to a job which currently seems ill-fated.
Derek McInnes could be a more interesting runner at odds of 8/1 and perhaps the Scottish FA might think outside the box with this appointment, with a foreign manager potentially in the running.
Sam Allardyce didn’t last long in charge of England although he’s a 25/1 poke to become the next manager of the Scottish team, while Lars Lagerback achieved good things with Iceland and he’s available at 20/1.
For the time being, Gordon Strachan remains in charge although he’s expected to step down.
