Sanchez Flores backed into a short price to replace Mark Hughes at Stoke
Quique Sanchez Flores is now the overwhelming favourite to become the next manager of Stoke City, with the Spaniard having previous experience of managing in the Premier League with Watford.
Flores is a 1/3 chance with bookmaker BetVictor after a meeting between him and a Stoke consortium in Barcelona, with City currently stationed in the relegation zone.
It appears as though Stoke are likely to hire Slaven Bilic to replace Mark Hughes, with bookmaker BetVictor offering 1/5 that the Croatian takes charge of the Potters in the coming days or weeks.
Bilic started the season in charge of West Ham United although some disappointing performances and results meant that he was relieved of duties and replaced by David Moyes.
Derby manager Gary Rowett is now out to 5/1 and it appears as though the Rams are reluctant to allow their manager to leave the club, with Martin O’Neill now a 10/1 poke.
Stoke City are looking for a new manager after sacking Mark Hughes on Saturday evening, with the FA Cup defeat at Coventry proving to be the final straw for the club’s patient owners.
The Coates family are now searching for a replacement and BetVictor make Gary Rowett the 5/2 favourite to take charge at the bet365 Stadium, with the Derby manager having enjoyed a successful campaign with the Rams in the Championship this season.
Next Stoke manager odds with BetVictor
Gary Rowett 5/2
Martin O’Neill 3/1
Slaven Bilic 5/1
Ryan Giggs 12/1
Graham Potter 12/1
Steve McClaren 14/1
Michael O’Neill 18/1
Rowett may not be interested in leaving the iPro Stadium, with Derby on course for a potential promotion to the Premier League and perhaps Stoke will have to look elsewhere, with Martin O’Neill 3/1 to leave his Republic of Ireland post to take charge of the Potters.
Slaven Bilic is a 5/1 although he didn’t make a lasting impression at West Ham United, with Ryan Giggs out to 12/1 and it would be a risk to appoint someone with next to no management experience.
Graham Potter is a 12/1 poke and currently manages in Sweden although this British coach has previously played for Stoke City and perhaps he could be a leftfield choice, with Steve McClaren available at 14/1.
Michael O’Neill is an 18/1 poke and the Northern Ireland manager has previously made it clear he’s ambitious enough to look beyond his current post at some stage.
Stoke’s next game is away to Manchester United on Monday night, with City looking at this clash as a probable loss although there is then a run of games after this match which will determine whether Stoke remain a top flight entity.
All odds were correct at time of posting.
